The three-month inflation allowance withheld by the Modi government during the Corona period will be paid soon.

The Modi government may increase the dearness allowance of central employees. It has a 2% probability. The increase will take effect from July 1. The proposal is likely to be approved at the Union Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (August 29). DA is calculated based on the employee's basic salary. In March this year, the government raised the DA by two per cent. It was increased from 5 per cent to 7 per cent.

The Mujbar DA was supposed to rise in July, but the June index figures are released about a month later. That’s why it happens every year after the July DA announcement. Harishankar Tiwari, former chairman of AG Office Brotherhood based in Allahabad (UP), who calculated the DA, told GNews Digital over phone that the inflation allowance is likely to go up by two per cent this time as well. It will be announced after the June index figures come out. State governments will then also announce additional in the DA.

The government is working on a new index

Harishankar Tiwari said the government was modifying the index. At the same time the base year will also change, on the basis of which the DA is calculated. It will benefit about 1 crore central employees and pensioners. The current CPI-IW base year is 2011. The base year was 2006 when the 6th Pay Commission was enacted in 2006. Before that it was 1982.

The industrial worker is getting more benefits

The government is changing the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This will determine the DA of the industrial worker. DA is the cost of living adjustment allowance that a government employee receives. It is calculated as the basic salary of the employee. Employees are given an inflation allowance to reduce the impact of inflation.
